DNA results…inconclusive?

They lit me up like a Christmas tree.

Well, I got my DNA tests back from SelfDecode.com and what the what?

I’m not sure what I was expecting…results that made sense? Some sort of clue to my fatigue? But the only genetic markers they found under the ‘Pain & Fatigue’ category were for Back Pain and Migraines – neither of which I have.

However, under the Sleep category, it noted that I have a proclivity for snoring, insomnia, and rising early. Welllllll, I was wide awake at 3:45 this morning. I don’t think I snore and insomnia is a stretch, but my watch says I got only got 43 minutes of deep sleep last night and 12 minutes of REM, with a total of 6 hours and 20 minutes of sleep. That’s certainly not good.

Connecting this with what Dr. Morse said last week about the difference between fatigue and sleepiness, I’m beginning to wonder about my sleep.

Other things I’m genetically predisposed toward:

  • Impulsive – I don’t even have to think about this one. That’s not me. Next trait. Let’s do this!
  • Carefree – whatever, man. That’s, like, your opinion
  • Intelligent – I’m glad somebody agrees with me
  • Good memory – who agree with what?
  • Muscular – why, thank you for noticing
  • Sexual dysfunction– what?! Who have you been talking to? Was it that girl? From that place? That was a one time thing!
  • Infertile – ha! Ask my two kids how infertile I am (Wait…they are my kids, right?)
  • More active – I did just go for a run
  • More sedentary – And now I am sitting down
  • Happy – Ugh. I guess.
  • Caffeine-related anxiety – now that I’ve had my second cup of coffee, I am a little concerned about this
  • Agreeable – alright, alright, alright!
  • Attention deficit – that doesn’t even make sen
