Biochemicals

On this page, I will explore how biochemicals such as supplements, hormones, and drugs affect our energy levels.

At the highest level, a biochemical (or biomolecule) is a general term used to describe any molecule the body uses to support a biological process. This is a broad category meant to cast a wide net over all the other substances that affect our energy but are usually fixed (or broken) with a pill.

I have intentionally placed the biochemical pillar last in my ranking, not because it isn’t as important as the others, but because people tend to reach first for a pill as an easy fix. This is a mistake. If we try to fix our energy issues with a dose of Vitamin B or a shot of coffee, we may never discover the underlying cause of our fatigue in the first place. I understand the urge for a quick boost, but I encourage the reader to dig deeper and repair the foundational systems first. Quick fixes will only mask the symptoms for a while. You will have to address the core causes eventually.

So, below I will explore the science of how our bodies use biochemicals to produce energy. I will read articles and books by the experts to find out what advice they can offer us. Then I will experiment with applying those tips and tricks to my own life. Finally, I will make my conclusions about what seems to work best from what I’ve found.
